World of Tanks Somua SM - 4 Kills 7,7K Damage

Medals received: Brothers in Arms, Confederate, Steel Wall, High Caliber

The Somua SM is a French tier 8 premium heavy tank.

A French heavy tank, presented as an alternative for the AMX 50 at a design competition. Development started in 1946; however, the prototype was not ready until October 1951. German tank-building technologies were applied in the development of the vehicle: it was equipped with a 100-mm gun with a magazine-system autoloader installed in an oscillating turret. The tank underwent trials from January through July 1953, during which it did not show any promising results. Consequently, the project was discontinued in favor of the AMX 50.

World of Tanks Cromwell - 6 Kills 5,2K Damage

Medals received: Lehvaslaiho’s Medal, Confederate, High Caliber, Tank Sniper, Top Gun

The Cromwell is a British tier 6 medium tank.

The Cromwell was developed in 1941–1942 by BRC&W. A total of 1,070 vehicles were mass-produced from late 1943 through 1945. They were extensively used by the British Army in the Northwest Europe Campaign of 1944–1945.

The Cromwell, or "Crommie", is a generally well-liked medium tank with impressive maneuverability that no other tier 6 medium tank can offer, but at the cost of rather weak armor. Its Vickers HV gun is comparable to the German 75mm L/70, making it suited for high speed flanking maneuvers and also long and medium range fire support. Beware the unusually poor dispersion values, try to get in close for flanking. Its impressive power to weight ratio and maneuverability can allow it to actively scout as well as zig-zagging to easily avoid enemy fire, though the radio leaves something to be desired.

The Cromwell leads to the Comet.

World of Tanks Caernarvon - 8 Kills 8,3K Damage

Medals received: Radley-Walters' Medal, Steel Wall, High Caliber, Top Gun

The Caernarvon is a British tier 8 heavy tank.

Development of this infantry support tank started in 1944. The first prototype was ready for trials in 1952. A total of 21 tanks were manufactured but never entered service. Some of the vehicles were later converted into Conqueror heavy tanks.

A big change in the British heavy tank line, the Caernarvon marks the beginning of the "Universal Tank" era of the tree. Therefore, its mobility is much better than that of the Black Prince. However the hull armor is not as thick despite being sloped which is something previous tanks lacked. The top gun is an improvement of the one from its predecessor in terms of aim time, accuracy and rate of fire and has an ideal role for hulldown tactics as its large and well-armoured (269.9mm) gun mantlet can eat most shots tier-for-tier with no consequence. This playstyle has been improved with patch 9.20.1 which upgraded the top gun from a twenty pounder to the 32 pounder.

Unfortunately, it takes quite a while to realize this tank's potential if one has not previously unlocked modules on the British Medium tree. This tank has low alpha damage (280) and weak hull armor - therefore it is absolutely crucial to exploit this tank's strengths to the maximum in order to be successful in it, most notably its incredibly high rate of fire combined with tough turret and nice gun depression. When played to its strengths, this tank can indeed be fearsome and after the latest buffs in patch 9.20.1 it is now widely considered to be among the best tier 8 heavy tanks.

The Caernarvon leads to the Conqueror.

World of Tanks TOG II* - 8 Kills 6K Damage

Medals received: Radley-Walters' Medal, High Caliber, Tank Sniper, Top Gun

The TOG II* is a British tier 6 premium heavy tank.

Developed for trench warfare. Initially, armament was to be placed in the front part of the hull and side sponsons. However, later it was decided not to add the sponsons and instead mount a turret. By 1943, when the TOG II* was completed and ready for trials, it was already obsolete. The vehicle never entered service.

Very long and Very slow, the TOG II is one of the most popular and easily recognizable vehicles in World of Tanks. Despite its bulky appearance, it's not an unstoppable behemoth and instead derives its strength from its 1,400 hit points and fantastic gun. The huge hit point pool and powerful, fast firing 17-pounder gun make it ideal as a base defense tank. With proper positioning and hit point rationing, it can swing seemingly hopeless situations in its favor and win the battle for its team.

World of Tanks VK 30.02 (D) - 8 Kills 5K Damage

Medals received: Radley-Walters' Medal, High Caliber, Top Gun

The VK 30.02 (D) is a German tier 7 medium tank.

The prototype manufactured in the spring of 1942 was supposed to represent an updated project of Daimler-Benz. It featured a new chassis with torsion-bar suspension and eight support rollers placed in a checkerboard layout. The plan was to mount the Maybach HL 210 P45 engine and the 75 mm KwK 42 L/71 gun on the vehicle. However, the MAN project (future Pz.Kpfw. V Panther) was eventually selected. No prototypes of the Daimler-Benz vehicle were finished.

Compared to its predecessor, this tank plays like a true medium, with armour and health to brawl, but less maneuverability. You will want to take advantage of the armour by positioning yourself in such a way that shells will bounce off you. Even with the weight of the armour, the mobility is still a high point. Its gun selection is much like its cousins from the heavy tank lines, the VK 30P or the VK 36H, but a tier late. The 88mm L/56 comes with decent damage potential and it is powerful enough to wake up any sleeping heavy, although the penetration is rather insufficient for its tier, so aiming for the sides and rear is a must. You have some capacity for fighting up-close due to your speed and mobility, but expect to be out-gunned by other mediums.

The VK 30.02 (D) leads to the Indien-Panzer.

World of Tanks Object 277 - 7 Kills 10,9K Damage

Medals received: High Caliber, Top Gun

The Object 277 is a Soviet tier 10 heavy tank.

Developed in 1956–1958 at the Kirov Plant, Leningrad, under the supervision of Joseph Kotin. Two prototypes were produced and underwent trials from 1959 through 1960. A hull and a turret were produced for testing for shell resistance. The development was discontinued in the summer of 1960 due to insufficient development of certain systems and components. In addition, the vehicle did not demonstrate any advantage over the Object 770 heavy tank.

The Object 277 marks the end of its Soviet heavy line.

World of Tanks Emil II - 4 Kills 10,2K Damage

Medals received: High Caliber

The Emil II is a Swedish tier 9 heavy tank.

A variant of the heavy tank developed under the project of 1949. In 1952, three heavy tank projects were proposed. The EMIL 1952 E2 was the second variant. Depending on the armor and mounted engine, the weight of the vehicle varied from 34 to 39 tons. However, at the end of 1952, development of the Е2 version was discontinued in favor of the Е3 version, which had similar characteristics but improved armor.

The Emil II leads to the Kranvagn.

World of Tanks Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. H - 9 Kills 3,7K Damage

Medals received: Radley-Walters' Medal, Pascucci's Medal, Lehvaslaiho’s Medal, High Caliber, Naidin's Medal, Top Gun

The Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. H is a German tier 5 medium tank.

The G variant of the Pz. IV was produced starting in May 1942. In April 1943 production began on the H variant—eventually the most massively produced version of the Pz. IV. The Ausf. H shared the upgraded gun of the Ausf. G, and utilized a single 80-mm front glacis plate instead of layered plates. A new transmission slightly reduced vehicle speed but was more reliable. The tanks of this variant also featured side screens, 5–8 mm thick, on the hull and turret sides. A total of 3,774 vehicles of the Ausf. H were built.

This tank is in essence a long range M4 Sherman, combining excellent accuracy with good gun depression, vision, and rate of fire. While not as fast as the the Pz.Kpfw. III/IV, the Pz.kpfw. IV is still about as mobile as the M4 (as well as having better hp/weight ratio), and has the option of 2 top guns: the accurate 7.5cm KwK 40 L/48 gun, or a superior 10.5cm KwK L/28 howitzer compared to the Sherman's.

An interesting fact about this tank is that the pre patch 8.0 PZ IV (with the Schmalturm and L/70) was one of the very first tanks modeled in the game, along with the Tiger, T-34, and others.

The Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. H leads to the VK 36.01 (H), and the VK 30.01 (P).
