LCRA urges mandatory water-use restrictions

Because of declining levels in the two reservoirs that supply drinking water to 1.1 million people in Austin and Central Texas, the Lower Colorado River Authority is calling on its wholesale water customers to implement mandatory water-use restrictions under their drought contingency plans. In a press conference on Thursday, LCRA General Manager Tom Mason and representatives from LCRA water customers talked to the media about the drought conditions that prompted the need for these water restrictions under LCRAs Water Management Plan and what these new restrictions will mean for residents.
